The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has reportedly seized Taj Banjara, a prominent hotel in Banjara Hills, due to outstanding property tax dues amounting to Rs 1.40 crore.

Authorities took action after multiple notices were sent to the management regarding the pending dues. Despite repeated reminders, the hotel management allegedly did not clear the outstanding amount, prompting the civic body to enforce the seizure.

Taj Banjara, operated under the Taj Hotels brand, is associated with the Tata Group and was originally developed by the GVK Group. The property, situated in the prime Banjara Hills area, is well-known in Hyderabad’s hospitality sector.

The GHMC has been intensifying its efforts to recover unpaid property taxes from commercial establishments across the city. Officials have been issuing warnings and taking legal measures to ensure compliance with tax regulations. Similar actions have been taken against other establishments that failed to clear their dues.

Further details on the next course of action regarding the hotel’s operations and any potential resolution from the management are awaited.
